In August we announced that Netflix would be streaming Legendary Pictures’ new continuation of Tobe Hooper’s 70s classic “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” and now we have an official release date. The film is set in the modern day and will disregard all other films other than the original. “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” will premiere on February 18th, 2022 and is directed by David Blue Garcia with Fede Alvarez as producer. Key cast members include: Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore, and Moe Dunford. The film was shot in Bulgaria last year and you can see a short teaser below.
The original film became a horror classic and tells the story of a cannibalistic family which including ‘Leatherface’ – a huge man with a deformed face that he covers with a mask made from the skin of his victims. After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.
Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.
Leatherface is back.
