Adam Sandler has reportedly signed up to star in the currently untitled drama for Netflix based on Jaroslav Kalfar’s novel “The Spaceman of Bohemia“. Johan Renck, the Emmy-winning director of “Chernobyl“, is set to direct with the script being adapted by Colby Day.
The story follows an astronaut (Sandler) who is sent to collect some ancient dust from the edge of the galaxy but as his earth life falls to pieces he begins to take advice from the only voice he can hear. That voice, it turns out, belongs to a creature from the beginning of time which happens to be living in the shadows of his spaceship.
While the majority of Sandler’s roles are silly comedies, such as the recent “Hubie Halloween” and “Murder Mystery” he has also played some more serious roles such as this year’s “Uncut Gems“.
