All the New Additions to Watch This Weekend on Netflix UK (17th December 2021)

If you want to know what to watch this weekend then we’re here to give you the lowdown on this week’s biggest and best film, TV and documentary additions on Netflix UK. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

This week appears to be Witcher Week with lots of featurettes alongside The Witcher season 2. The Witcher Season One Recap: From the Beginning which follows Yennefer’s magical origins to Geralt’s first meeting with Ciri, in chronological order in a Season 1 rundown. The Witcher: Fireplace the magical fire from the Great Hall at Kaer Morhen, these soothing flames offer a perfect backdrop for a cozy vibe. Whilst The Witcher Bestiary Season 1, Part 1 and The Witcher Bestiary Season 1, Part 2 delve into the mythologies of some of the many monsters stalking the Continent. Finally we have Making The Witcher: Season 2 which explores the secrets and lore of “The Witcher” Season 2 — from new monsters and locales to Geralt’s redesigned armor.

The most popular additions for film have been Dallas Buyers Club is set in 1985 Dallas, where electrician and hustler Ron Woodroof works around the system to help AIDS patients get the medication they need after he is diagnosed with the disease. In the horror film Countdown a nurse downloads an app that predicts the user’s exact time of death, when she discovers she has three days to beat the clock and change her fate. Ender’s Game sees talented preteen children, including Andrew “Ender” Wiggin,  trained for battle against the alien insectoid Formics (“Buggers”) invading Earth. In the Italian drama The Hand of God in 1980s Naples, young Fabietto pursues his love for football as family tragedy strikes, shaping his uncertain but promising future as a filmmaker. Finally for films we have Sparkle in the 1960s, three sisters form a girl group and soon become local sensations with major label interest, but fame becomes a challenge as the close-knit family begins to fall apart.

For TV this week we have the crime drama Sequestered where a lethal conspiracy unfolds while a jury sequestered in a hotel decides the fate of the man on trial for the murder of the governor’s young son. In the reality series Selling Tampa the agents at the all-female, Black-owned Allure Realty mix business with fun as they rule the waterfront of a hot Tampa luxury real estate market. In the Swedish comedy Bonus Family a new couple, their exes and their children navigate the emotional challenges and tricky logistics of blended family life. Finally for TV we have The Salisbury Poisonings which is a three episode, fact based drama from the BBC, about the 2018 Novichok poisoning crisis in the city of Salisbury.

Documentaries this week include 137 Shots which sees law enforcement face scrutiny as Americans demand justice after police violence claims multiple Black lives in Cleveland. How the Beatles Changed the World documents the history of The Beatles and their influence on everything from music, art, and culture to fashion and politics. 27: Gone Too Soon explores the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths at 27 of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse. The cute family friendly documentary Puff: Wonders of the Reef which follows a baby pufferfish as he travels through a wondrous microworld full of fantastical creatures as he searches for a home on the Great Barrier Reef.

Finally for family viewing this week we have Fast & Furious Spy Racers which sees a government agency recruit teen driver Tony Toretto and his thrill-seeking friends to infiltrate a criminal street racing circuit as undercover spies. Finally for this week we have StarBeam: Beaming in the New Year which sees Summersette’s biggest baddies join forces on New Year’s Eve to battle Zoey and the Beam Team. But cool cousin Zara powers up to help save the day.
