All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from 11th December 2020)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of the new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge-watch! Viola Davis and Denzel Washington are just two of those interviewed in this documentary about the ‘August Wilson Monologue Competition’ a program that is so much more than a competition for theatre students, set up in memory of the late playwright August Wilson. Students learn how to hone their skills and deliver emotionally-charged monologues. Executively produced by Viola Davis.

The Mess You Leave Behind

A young teacher is offered a job in just a few hours away in a new town. Teaching high school students is no big deal until you realise the teacher you are replacing actually took her own life but a few weeks ago. Haunted by her, a battle for survival ensues inside and outside the classroom. Stars Aron Piper and Barbara Lennie.

The Prom

This week, star-studded film, ‘The Prom’ lands with a bang. Featuring James Cordon, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Keegan-Michael Key, Kerry Washington and Tracey Ullman, the story unfolds of a young girl looking forward to her upcoming prom night until she is told it has been cancelled after it became known that she wanted to take her girlfriend as her date. When broadway stars get hold of the news via the media, they pledge to travel to Atlanta and make sure the prom goes ahead!

A California Christmas

A rich businessman who wants for nothing finds himself in a predicament when a ranch owner won’t sell her land. Posing as a ranch hand, he offers to work on the land in a bid to find the answer to his problem. What he doesn’t count on finding is himself. In a somewhat predictable narrative, the young man’s true identity is discovered but not until the beautiful ranch owner has her heart set on him. Will there be a happy ending? We’d bet our lives on it but what else would you want at Christmas?
