Jingle-Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Christmas has well and truly landed on Netflix and we kick off this week’s -shorter than usual- list of new Originals with ‘Jingle-Jangle: A Christmas Journey’ The first of two festive movies this week, this one is written and directed by David E Talbert well-known as one of the most prolific writers in America delving into the film industry, from his theatre-making career, in recent years. The film comes to life with a score by the incredibly talented and accomplished John Debney. ‘The Greatest Showman’ style musical numbers will have you tapping your feet as the story of a toy shop owner and his granddaughter right old wrongs and develop the toy that has been in production for far too long. Set in the fictional town of Cobbleton the film stars Forest Whittaker, Hugh Bonneville and Keegan-Michael Key. The story includes family, love, villains, heroes, robots, flying, singing, dancing colourful cinematography and magic – something for everyone! Merry Christmas!

Available globally from Friday 13th November 2020

Sophia Loren stars in this Spanish movie of the story of a boy ‘Momo’, an orphan who is taken in by the very lady he tries to rob in the street. Begrudgingly, she becomes the child’s ward on a temporary basis and the pair begin a tempestuous yet beautiful journey that will shape the lives they both have lying ahead of them. The film stars Ibrahima Gueye in his debut film role.

The Crown

Fans of Netflix series ‘The Crown’ can let out a sigh of relief as season four lands on Sunday this week. Season three was made available to us in 2019 and we all know that 2020 has been a long year! This new season moves into more modern times as we see characters Margaret Thatcher played by Gillian Anderson and Princess Diana played by Emma Corrin. The queen herself is still played by Olivia Coleman for this season although Netflix has confirmed that this will be her last outing as the monarch. Ten episodes should keep us going a little while and act as a distraction from the craziness as we approach the end of the year that changed all years.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again

From queens to princesses, the second of the Christmas movies to be added to Netflix this week is the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 seasonal hit; ‘The Princess Switch’. ‘The Princess Switch 2: Switched again’ offers us a 1hour-36minute-long return to pure unadulterated Christmas cheese! Vanessa Hudgens returns to the role(s) of Stacey/Lady Margaret. Lady Margaret invites Stacey and Prince Edward to her upcoming coronation and they bring along Lady Margaret’s ex, Kevin in a bid to help them patch things up. Another switch is in order to give them the time they need together but a spanner is thrown in the works when Lady Margarets cousin Lady Fiona Pembroke crashes the party and decides she would like a piece of the lookalike-pie. Hudgens is marvellous as all three roles of course and did we mention the cheese? So much cheese. Bring it on!
