Friends From College

“Friends From College” is a sitcom following a circle of friends who studied together at Harvard when they are reunited later in life. Now in their 40’s the friends struggle between their current situations, the nostalgia for the life they had and how the two intertwine as they navigate their way through life and romantic encounters. Executively produced by Nicholas Stoller (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Get Him to The Greek”) and his wife Francesca Delbanco. Stoller also directed all eight, thirty minute episodes of the series.

“Friends from College” is available from Friday 14th July 2017

Chasing Coral

A Netflix Original documentary straight from the Sundance Film Festival 2017. “Chasing Coral” seeks to uncover the environmental reasons for the untimely and vast death of the Coral Reef of the ocean. The documentary follows a team of scientists and film makers as they set out to capture the ‘bleaching’ of the Coral by global warming, in real time.

Available from Friday 14th July 2017

To The Bone

“To the Bone” is an emotionally charged film about the life of twenty year old Ellen and her battle with Anorexia Nervosa. After spending most of her life at various clinics and centres for recovery with no real progress in beating the disorder, Ellen’s family seek out a residential clinic with a difference. The story follows Ellen’s fight to find the strength to accept and love herself for who she is. It addresses deep rooted issues of society and the expectations it has on women however early reviews have been mixed in opinion. Some concern over the glamorisation of eating disorders, use of ableist terms and the potential (still not confirmed) lack of support offered at the end of the film to glowing reviews of how well the film tackles these sensitive issues. I suppose it’s never going to be an easy topic to address in a movie and I do wonder if Netflix will add a warning to it as they did to the episodes of “13 Reasons Why” aimed at teen viewers who may be susceptible to the issues raised.
