Murder by the Coast

More than two decades since the original Wanninkhof-Carabantes case, this true crime documentary seeks to investigate the original investigation and all its prejudice.  When Dutch-Spanish teenager Rocío Wanninkhof is murdered in October 1999, the police are under pressure to find a culprit. They are quick to move in on Rocío’s mother’s partner who was then convicted. Case closed – until in 2003 another young woman is found dead and when the police find her killer there is evidence it is the same murderer. The documentary looks at the bias and prejudice within the case and the investigation with over 50 hours of interviews with over 60 people involved at the time.
