The Mind Explained

What makes our brain tick? How can we be manipulated, brainwashed or even radicalised? ‘The Mind Explained’ returns with a second season of the popular show that looks deeper into the psyche to answer these questions. Examining our ability to focus and why we think the way we do, the five-episode series serves up a healthy dose of education as we become more aware of how we think and how that shapes our interaction with the world. Hosted by Emma Stone.

Cowboy Bepop

Think…actually, we don’t know what else to compare this to, to be honest. We’re not even sure how to describe it. Netflix has called it a space western (which is a thing apparently). Following three ‘cowboy’ bounty hunters Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) across the galaxy as they try to escape their past, the show is based on the original anime series of the same name. The director Shinichirō Watanabe served as a consultant on this live-action adaptation. The series also stars Alex Hassell and Elena Satine. Whilst the show looks unusual, it sure looks fun!

Available from Friday 19th November 2021

On a more serious note, the documentary, ‘Procession’ lands this week and is not for the faint-hearted. A group of men face their history of abuse within the Catholic church. The documentary serves as a backdrop to the men facing the sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of Catholic church clergy and priests. Their therapy? To create a piece of drama that allows them to challenge the processes that permitted the abuse and to reclaim the spaces where it was committed, namely the church and its ceremonies. A brave and commendable piece of film that will no doubt reach out to many worldwide. Directed by Robert Greene In Consultation with Joe Eldred, Mike Foreman, Ed Gavagan, Dan Laurine, Michael Sandridge and Tom Viviano.

tick, tick, BOOM!

Jonathon Larson has been writing his original rock musical for eight years. Now is his time to shine! The film adaptation of his autobiographical musical, ‘tick, tick, BOOM!’ is one man’s story of love and life as he strives to move from waiting tables in a New York diner to seeing his long-awaited musical on stage. Set in 1990 amidst the aids epidemic, the show follows the life of the real-life composer for theatre, Larson who wrote the world-famous musical ‘Rent.’
