Shadow and Bone

The worldwide bestselling novels by author Leigh Bardugo based around the fantasy world of Grishaverse have arrived on screen. Alina Starkov possesses a power unlike any other and if she can learn to harness it, she could do wonders for her people and her world as she adapts to life as a soldier in the army. As a mixed-race orphan, she hasn’t had the best start in life and now she must battle to save her world as ‘The Shadow Fold’ aka ‘The Fold’, a deep, dark valley that has opened up, separating the land into two and is filled with magic and monsters, threatens their existence. The series consists of eight episodes and spans the first two books in the series of novels. It’s a fantasy world like no other (despite having a dangerous threatening force and a ‘chosen one’ saviour). Netflix has been desperate for a new Young Adult Fantasy, could this be the one that ticks the box? Starring Jessie Mei Li and Ben Barnes.
