All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from 23rd June 2017)

One of the great things about Netflix are their Netflix Originals – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round up of new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Wednesday evening with what will be available over the coming week starting the following Friday. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week long Netflix binge watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

So after only having one release last week, Netflix added another three new Original releases for the week commencing 16th June, after our post went live. Here they are…

The Ranch – Part 3

Starring Ashton Kutcher as ‘Colt’ and Danny Masterson as Colt’s brother ‘Rooster’ this present day comedy series follows the trials and tribulations of Colt as he returns home to his family’s Colorado ranch after his semi – pro football career wasn’t quite the success he had hoped for. Kutcher and Masterson also sit as executive producers alongside Don Reo and Jim Patterson. Season three continues where season two left off following the brothers love lives after Rooster has left the ranch to set up home with his love ‘Mary’

‘The Ranch – Part 3’ Available as a Netflix Original from 16th June 2017.

El Chapo

Co-produced by Netflix and Univision’s Story House Entertainment, ‘El Chapo’ is the true story of the Joaquin Guzman aka El Chapo, a mexican drug lord. Both the US government and Forbes magazine have previously ranked this man as one of the deadliest, most powerful men in the world. Starting in 1985, the documentary series seeks to cover three decades of Guzman’s rise to and dramatic fall from power.

‘El Chapo’ is available as a 9 episode Original documentary series in Spanish from Friday 16th June 2017.

Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up for the First Time

Filmed live at the Relapse Theater, Atlanta, GA. Also features musician Jack White.

Available as a Stand Up Comedy Special from Tuesday 20th June 2017.

So, back to this week…

Set in Los Angeles in the 1980’s, ‘GLOW’ (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) is the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an actress trying hard to get her big break in the acting world. Brought to you by the people who produced ‘Orange is the New Black’, ‘GLOW’ is inspired by the real-life female wrestling league of the same name that had it’s own television show in the 1980’s. The 10 episodes follow the 12 women as they head for stardom in the wrestling world.

GLOW is available as a Netflix Original series from 23rd June 2017.

You Get Me

Teenager Tyler is having girlfriend troubles and when his girlfriend dumps him at a party, he meets Holly. She seems like everything he ever wanted all in one night. It turns out Holly is a new student at his school! Teen dramatisation of an age old story but think “Fatal Attraction” rather than “Grease”. Though I suspect the intended audience of this movie is probably too young to be aware of either. That said the trailer portrays it as one worth watching and at less than 90 minutes long, why not!

‘You Get Me’ is available from 23rd June 2017

Chris D’Elia – Man on Fire

D’Elia’s second Original Stand Up comedy special. The show is filmed at Vancouver’s Vogue Theater and is a sell out performance. Life’s general ups and downs including marriage without kids is his the basis of his material.

‘Chris D’Elia – Man on Fire’ is available from Tuesday 27th June 2017

Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton, Lily Collins all star in this tale of David and Goliath style story, written and directed by South Korean, Bong Joon Ho. A young girl name Mija befriends a large animal named Okja and fights for Okja’s safe return against a multi national corporation who have kidnapped her friend. Benedict Seal, who writes film reviews for us, described it as possibly too weird for cinema.

Available from 28th June 2017 as Netflix Original film.
