All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from 3rd September 2021)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of the new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge-watch! Dive Club

A group of teenage girls investigate the mysterious disappearance of their friend. The group of experienced divers use their skills in and out of the water to follow the clues and find out what happened to Lauren Rose. Helped by a world-famous adventurer, the members of Dive club at Cape Mercy, make it their mission and will stop at nothing until they uncover the secrets and find their friend and fellow diver.

Max desperately wants a dog but it’s a resounding no from his parents. When he meets a new creature who is half-shark, half-dog of course he names him Sharkdog and they begin a life of adventures together – all whilst keeping Sharkdog a secret from mom and dad in this fun kids animated series from Netflix Jr.

As the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks draws ever closer, Netflix releases another Netflix Original around the subject. This time by way of a film based on true events. Michael Keaton is Kenneth Feinberg, an attorney who finds himself faced with the incredible task of compensating families financially for the incalculable losses they faced as a result of 9/11. The movie also stars Stanley Tucci and Amy Ryan and is directed by Sara Colangelo.

Based on the book Vinterviken’ later renamed ‘Winter Bucht’ comes this story of John-John and his love for a rich white girl Elsbeth. Fighting racism, classism, abuse from his step-father and the world around him John-John finds himself on a path he never expected – falling in love. A series of decisions and circumstances out of his control makes the universe seem intent on destroying JJ’s life but can meeting this girl from the other side of the tracks change everything? Author Mats Wahls is a Swedish author of some 43 books and specialises in writing for young adults. This story, in particular, has already made it to the screen in the 90s and the original story was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 1996 – can it carry forward into 2021? Find out this week as the film JJ+E lands on Netflix on Thursday.

Blood Brothers: Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali

Two extremely iconic figures of modern history. Civil rights activist Malcolm X and boxer Muhammad Ali became friends for a time only to experience a devastating disagreement that destroyed their relationship. This new documentary film features footage of both these great men and is based on the book by Randy Roberts and Johnny Smith. Directed by Marcus A. Clarke, the film includes new footage of the pair who formed a friendship over three years as well as interviews from close family members including Malcolm X’s daughter and Ali’s brother amongst others to bring the story of the breakdown of their friendship to our screens.
