One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of the new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Deaf U

Reality series ‘Deaf U’ follows a group of friends, students at Gallaudet University, a renowned private ‘College for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing’ in Washington, D.C. The series follows the group of deaf friends as they navigate their way through university life and dating whilst offering us, the viewer, a unique insight into the young deaf community. NY playwright Radha is desperate for a breakthrough before the age of 40. She finds herself teaching and the young people can be far from kind about her career. Ginny Weds Sunny

This fun Indian romcom lands this week. Ginny a young woman still living with her mother and enjoying the single life in Delhi, is caught in her mother’s matchmaking scheme. Sunny, her mother’s choice of life partner for Ginny, is no longer looking for love and just wants to get married and settle down with a nice girl and is only too happy at the arrangement. Ginny and Sunny learn there is more than meets the eye to love and to each other as they navigate a relationship in two different worlds.

A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting

It is the month of all things spooky of course and the kids are not left out this week. On Thursday, lands this quirky modern film about a young boy Jacob Zellman, who is experiencing ‘nightmares’. When his babysitter tries to comfort him she too is dragged into a new world of monsters that ‘don’t exist’. When Jacob disappears, she sets out to frantically find help but in a world where no one believes in monsters, she is left alone. That is until the ‘Babysitters’ turn up. A league of teenage babysitters that protect the world’s children from monsters are the experts needed to find Jacob. Starring Tamara Smart and Tom Felton and directed by Rachel Talalay. The film is based on the children’s novel of the same name by Joe Ballarini.

Rooting For Roona

When you live in a small village, miles from a hospital and consultant-led care, how can a person be expected to survive with a condition like Hydrocephalus? When a photograph of a small child with the advanced case of head swelling hit the media, Roona’s chances for survival and ‘normal’ life have increased drastically. The documentary follows the family as they journey through seeking medical help with their daughter. The documentary includes interviews with the family and medical professionals including Neurosurgeon Dr Sandeep Vaishya.

The 2020 global pandemic that forced lockdowns around the world saw us all resorting to online connections with our loved ones. We all learned a new way to communicate, connect and share. This anthology of eight parts follows a different story in each episode examining different potential situations, issues and emotions experienced by different people at the time when COVID-19was at its height. The series is ground-breaking in that it not only helps us connect in how we feel about this year it documents this time in history and how we as humans reacted and evolved to cope. There are funny moments, there are tears, there is connection.
