All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 11th January 2019)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of the new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

Sex Education (Season One)

If you’re in the UK you may well have spotted the billboard advertisements for ‘Sex Education’ coming to Netflix this week. When you have a sex therapist as a mother why wouldn’t you take all that you’ve learned at home and team up with a grungy-looking, hot girl and start a sex therapy service at your school?! Asa Butterfield and Emma Mackey star as Otis and Maeve, unlikely teenage friends who pair up in an entrepreneurial way to offer a ‘therapy service’ to their peers in exchange for cold hard cash. Gillian Anderson stars, as Jean Milburn, the sex therapist mother of Otis. Despite being filmed in Wales with British actors, viewers were quick to notice in the trailer that there is a distinctly American feel to what is supposed to be a British school in this short but sweet comedy-drama series that consists of just eight episodes.

Available Friday 11th January 2019

Alain Hernandez stars as surfer, explorer and adventurer; Álvaro Vizcaíno who, whilst travelling, finds himself on a remote Island in the Canaries when he suffers an accident resulting in him being seriously injured. Unable to walk with a broken hip and other injuries, Hernandez begins to realise he is likely never to be found on this island and reminisces about his life and loved ones and the regrets he has whilst battling nature for survival. The film is based on true events.
