Da 5 Bloods

From director, Spike Lee comes this part satire, part action movie. The main characters are  Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Melvin (Isiah Whitlock Jr) and Eddie (Norm Lewis) – four veterans who return to Vietnam in a bid to confront the ghosts they left there and collect the loot they buried. Along the way, they encounter obstacles that threaten the mission and their own minds as past events come hurtling back to remind them of their time as brothers in arms, including the memory of Norman (Chadwick Boseman) their squadron leader, killed before their eyes, who appears to be remembered differently within the group.

F is for Family

The hugely popular adult animated sitcom series is back for its fourth instalment. There will be more of the same adventures for the Murphy family; a new baby on the way and a visit from Frank’s father to shake up the family home. For those new to the show – it’s set in the 1970s and follows the dysfunctional Murphy family – Frank, Sue, Kevin, Bill and Maureen. The show subtly addresses issues relevant at the time whilst tickling the audience with its often cringeworthy moments.

The Woods

It was 1994. Four teenagers entered ‘The Woods’ and two of them died, their bodies found. Now it is time to uncover the truth. The story is based on the book by ‘Harlan Coben’ the author of the books behind the hugely popular series ‘The Stranger’ and ‘Safe’. The protagonist ‘Paul Copeland’, in the novel, is now renamed ‘Pawel Kopiński’ as the series is set in Poland where it was filmed on location. Will Pawel finally gain the answers he craves, to the mystery of his sister’s disappearance 25 years on? You’ll have to watch all six hour-long episodes to find out. All six episodes will be available this week.

One Take

Thai girl ‘idol’ group BNK48 along with their sister groups Japanese AKB48 and China’s SNH48 amongst other sister groups across Asia. The group members go through rigorous audition style rounds to reach the final line-up. The group regularly upgrade members via the competitions held. The documentary is a candid look at the ruthless system and how the girls are competing with each other despite being established as friends or perhaps more accurately as sisters. The system is hugely popular in Asia and as such is highly competitive.
