All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 13th April 2018)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! Chef’s Table (Season Four)

Season four of the culinary documentary series following some of the worlds master chefs and the awe inspiring dishes they create. Each of the six episodes focuses on a particular chef and their trademark dishes.

Lost in Space

The pioneering Robinson family are on a mission in space in the year 2046 when their ship is thrown off course and they land in unknown territory. This ten episode series is a remake of the original 1965 series of the same name. There have been various attempts at remakes and spin offs including the 1998 movie. The series is created by screenwriting duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. This is not the first collaboration between the pair who have also worked together on ‘Dracula Untold’ and ‘The Last Witch Hunter’.

The Honeymoon Stand Up Special

Married Natasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher deliver comedy with a twist in this first of it’s kind comedy special for Netflix. Addressing their worries about their impending new status as parents the special is filmed in Austin, Texas and involves reluctant audience participation.

Come Sunday

Director Joshua Marston has received some negative reviews about the stamina of this film based on a true story. At the same time; Chiwetal Ejiofor has received much praise for his portrayal of evangelist pastor, Carlton Pearson. The film tells the story of Pearson’s change of belief after he experiences grief on an international scale as well as close to home. As he challenges his congregation to the belief that everyone is inherently saved, will the church that loved him so much, abandon him as he is brandished as spouting heresy.

I Am not an Easy Man

Follow up to the short film ‘Oppressed Majority’ also by director Eleonore Pourriat. Sexist male; Damien (Vincent Elbaz) awakes after a freak accident to find the world has changed, the roles reversed and men are now at the mercy of women. In this new society women are cat-callers, man-isers, and use men at their will. It’s a harsh way to learn a lesson but learn he must.

The Chalet

So just when we were thinking ‘where are all the scary films’? It is Friday 13th week after all, then one shows up albeit on Tuesday 17th. This eerie story of a group of adult family and friends regroup after many years to enjoy a vacation in a secluded French chalet. Things start to take a turn for the worse when they are stranded, blocked by a fallen rock on the only road out of town. The group must try to uncover who or what is behind the events that follow before it is too late for all of them.

The Alienist

Psychologist Laszlo Kreizler is an ‘Alienist’. One who helps those who are suffering with “disease of the mind.” In this American fictional film set in 1896 in New York City, a spate of crimes have been committed against young men and the police commissioner, Laszlo, a New York Times illustrator and a woman who is intent on becoming the first female detective, are tasked with solving the murders. Based on the novel of the same name by Caleb Carr.
