Isi & Ossi

It’s that time of year again – all things Valentines. So, if you’re planning an evening of ‘Netflix and Chill’ let’s start off with this rom-com film starring ‘Lisa Vicari’, ‘Pegah Ferydoni’ and ‘Dennis Mojen’. Isi holds the privileged position of being a billionaire’s daughter. In a desperate bid to rebel against her parents and her lifestyle, Isi recruits Ossi; a 23-year old from the less affluent town Mannheim to be her ‘boyfriend’. Ossi is a working-class guy raised by a single mother and Isi is a 20-year old rich kid from Heidelberg. What could possibly go wrong? Or Right!

Taj Mahal 1989

Speaking of Valentines Day, this new Indian series follows the stories of couples in different circumstances as they seek love, nurture love or strive to keep love burning in their relationships. From an ageing professional professor couple to school pupils and those that claim to be ‘just friends’, we all want to be loved and this series examines how we found love and navigated our way through the politics of love pre-internet. Set in small-town India in 1989, starring ‘Neeraj Kabi’, ‘Geetanjali Kulkarni’ and ‘Danish Hussain’.

Cable Girls

The Spanish series set in 1920’s Madrid returns for its fifth and final season. It is understood that this final season will be added in ‘parts’, this week seeing ‘Part One’. The series follows a group of young women who work for the National Telephone Company, navigating their love lives whilst holding down a career.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

If you’re struggling to get any romantic time with your SO, here’s one for the family; Aardman Pictures (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit)  presents ‘A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’. When a small alien appears Shaun and his farm friends are tasked with helping her get home before the ‘bad guys’ aka the guys in the hazmat suits – apt timing Netflix 😉 – find her. Dodging Earthly obstacles along the way the Aardman characters guarantee to have an audience of all ages giggling with this fun-filled, animated family film.

Available regionally from Friday 14th February 2020

The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia

Got kids a little old for the Aardman characters (surely not)? You might wanna signpost them to this pre-teen/teenage sitcom featuring a teenaged genius girl embarking on a career with NASA! There’s a lot of cheesy moments and the set looks awfully familiar but all is forgiven just for attempting to promote STEM studies and careers in young women. Oh wait, hang on, it’s also about helping Ashley be a ‘normal’ teenager and needing help with boys and all things social. Nice try Netflix but the jury’s out on this one – let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. We’ll have to wait until Monday for this one though, bye-bye Valentines day.
