All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 15th September 2017)

One of the great things about Netflix are their Netflix Originals – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

Good evening all just a quick note before we get started. In order to avoid missing content added by Netflix after our Wednesday evening deadline, we’ve decided to push back our publishing day to Thursday evening (from next week, 21st September). The usual time will remain 8.15pm. The blog will continue to announce all new Netflix Original content for the week starting the following morning. Netflix have blessed us with five brand new releases this week including films, documentaries, series and of course a stand up comedy special. Not to mention two new seasons of existing kids shows and a second season of an adult show. So let’s get started…

VegieTales in the City (Season Two)

With audio and subtitles available in French, English, German and Spanish this long running Bible-based animated series is just as popular as ever with parents. Teaching good, faith-based morals Bob and Larry and their team of veggie pals set out on adventures in season two of ‘VeggieTales in the City‘.

The Good Place (Season Two)

Kristen Bell stars as the not-so-nice Eleanor Shellstrop. A woman who finds herself in the afterlife, in the wrong place. ‘The Good Place.’ It’s clear there’s been a mistake by Michael (Ted Danson) the guy in charge but Eleanor likes her new surroundings and is determined to fit right in and secure a permanent position in ‘The Good Place.’ Eleanor continues to ‘be nice’ in this second season of this comedy series with an unusual narrative.

Season Two is available from Thursday 21st September 2017

Brand New Releases This Week…

Strong Island

The story of the Ford family who lost their son, 24 year old black teacher, William Jr, when he was murdered in 1992 by Mark Reilly, a 19 year old white mechanic. The documentary film follows the family’s fight to clear their son from any wrongdoing despite him being the murder victim. It exposes, yet again, the deep rooted racism that still plights today’s society.

Available from Friday 15th September 2017

American Vandal

Netflix has a very good reputation for it’s true-crime documentaries, boosting their popularity with their multi-part docu-series genre including ‘Making a Murderer’, ‘Amanda Knox’ etc. It was only a matter of time before an attempt to produce a satirical true crime investigation was announced and here it is. American Vandal sets out to investigate the possibility that an innocent young man is being held accountable for the defacing of 27 teachers cars with phallic symbols. The series has all the criteria for the making of a serious true crime documentary from the outraged investigator that seemingly is completely alone in believing the accused’s protest of innocence, the news broadcast reporting the original ‘crime’ and the photography of the accused as a child with voice over memories.

Warning the trailer contains explicit (but really quite funny) images and language.

Available from Friday 15th Sept 2017.

Jerry before Seinfeld

A candid look at the famous comedian before he was famous. Includes new stand up material as well as documentary style interviews and previous shows to document how Jerry Seinfeld became a comedian and rose to fame.

Available from Tuesday 19th September 2017

First They Killed My Father

Long awaited Netflix Original film produced and directed by ‘Angelina Jolie’. The film looks at the situation in the mid 1970’s in Cambodia through the eyes of a young girl. Based on the memoirs of human rights activist ‘Loung Ung’ who co-produced the film with Jolie, the film follows the young girl and her family as they fight to stay together during the years the Khmer Rouge regime took power from 1975 when she was just 5 years old until she turned 9 years old. As well as raising awareness for Cambodia, Jolie has been quoted as saying she made the film for her son Maddox so he can know the history of his heritage and the experiences of his birth parents. The film premiered in Cambodia in February 2017 and at the Toronto International Film Festival just last Sunday 11th September. It has been aired in select theatres this week and is set to be released globally on Netflix as original content from Friday.
