All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 1st February 2019)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of the new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

Love Netflix Originals? Well here’s our list of ‘Top Picks’ for this week. Check out the trailers below and let us know what you’re looking forward to this week -full list of this week’s additions and regional availability at the end of the post. Netflix aren’t always that clear about geographical availability so please bear with us as we try to be as precise as possible about where Netflix Originals will be available. If in doubt titles will be listed simply as [Original].

Always a Witch

Carmen is a 16th-century witch destined to be burned at the stake until a wizard sends her hurtling into modern day Columbia where she must learn to live the life of any other 19-year-old. There’s just one catch – she’s not allowed to use her powers. To survive in a time she knows nothing about, she must learn everything there is to know about not being a witch.

Available Friday 1st February 2019

Dear Ex

Imagine losing your husband only to find out that he was gay and having an affair with a young man, add to that the fact that your husband has changed his insurance policy to include this young man as beneficiary instead of your son, you’d be pretty mad right? Imagine then that your teenage son decides he hates you (not an unusual stance for teenage boys, granted) and wants to move in with this cool young guy! That’s where Sanilan finds herself in this emotional LGBTQ drama where she must befriend her husband’s lover in order to win back her son.

Available Friday 1st February

Free Rein: Valentine’s Day

The riders of Brightfields Stables are back in yet another ‘one-off special’ of ‘Free Rein’, this time in aid of Valentine’s day. Shouldn’t be too hard to achieve a love theme when the series is usually centred around the love triangle of the main character Zoe, right? Actually, this time the gang are divided boys versus girls in the race to find the legendary ‘maid’s stone’.  The Valentine’s special becomes a head to head battle of the sexes on horseback until danger unfolds and of course Raven the horse is bound to help save the day. Pre-teen and adult, equestrian-loving viewers alike will no doubt be excited to see the return of the series in this special that comes just over a month since the Christmas special!

Available Friday 1st February

The night before planet Earths destruction is set, a team of explorers and scientists are on a mission to intercept an alien spacecraft that they hope holds the answer to saving the Earth. Before the interception takes place the crew find they are subject to alsorts of strange happenings not least what’s happening in their minds. A deeply psychological sci-fi thriller set in deep space based on the 1980 novella ‘Nightflyers’ by fantasy author George RR Martin (Game of Thrones).

Available Friday 1st February

Russian Doll

Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is The New Black) is trading the orange jumpsuit for a party outift as she stars as Nadia, the young woman enduring her own birthday party over and over again only to die every time! After each death, her journey restarts at the party and she must find a way to escape her own fate. Yet another ‘Groundhog Day’-esque movie only this time we see a gruesomely dark, comedic edge to what is usually a romantic comedy narrative, fun!

Available Friday 1st February

Ray Romano: Right Here Around The Corner

Ray Romano takes the stage for the first time in 23 years in two unannounced sets on one night in New York City. Surprising unexpecting audiences twice in one night, Romano visits The Comedy Cellar and The Village Underground performing his funny set on marriage, parenting and getting old.
