Class of ’83

The Kalesars gang is out of control in Mumbai and the Bombay police are seemingly fighting a losing battle in the war to take back control of the city. In a bid to gain control again, a retired police officer returns to the force to orchestrate a team of law enforcement officers to disband the gang members one by one with full authority to take lives with no consequence for actions. Their mission “…to protect the good and destroy the evil”. ‘Bobby Deol’ plays Vijay Singh in this Indian Netflix Original based on the true story of ‘Class of 83: The Punishers of Mumbai Police’ by Hussain Zaidi, this film is inspired by the true story of those officers of the law played by ‘Annup Sonii’, ‘Vishwajeet Pradhan’, ‘Joy Sengupta’ and ‘Bhupendra Jadawat’.

The Sleepover

A sister and brother arrange a dual sleepover with a friend each only to discover the same evening that their mother Margot (Malin Akerman) isn’t quite who she claims to be and mom and dad are gone! It soon becomes clear that their family has a secret past and their lives are in fact part of a relocation protection programme but it’s worse than that, their parents have been kidnapped!- In order to find them, the four kids must foil the plan of the kidnapper and reach their mom and dad before they are forced to carry out one last criminal ‘job’ for her ex-boyfriend and former partner in crime. In one heck of a sleepover adventure, will the kids save the day? Most likely. Will it be a fun watch? Should be!

Emily’s Wonder Lab

Netflix Jr brings science to life for kids and pre-teens in this fun science lab programme. Think less slime making instructions and more STEM lessons delivered in a fun-filled, bright and engaging way. Lots of smiley faces and loud voices should keep young ones engaged this summer. So who is Emily? Emily Calandrelli is an actual real-life scientist (thank you Netflix!) with two degrees one BSc in Mechanical Engineering and one in Aerospace Engineering! We’re sure you’ll agree that’s impressive enough a resume without further adding a master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering from MIT and a second master’s degree in Technology and Policy. Wow! We’re officially impressed and relieved that this scientist and mom’s life goals are to engage young people in STEM activities. Just as Emily ends her ‘Wonder Lab’ shows, we’re calling on Netflix watching kids to ‘Stay curious and keep exploring’. Catch ‘Emily’s Wonder Lab’ episodes from this week as her debut Netflix show kicks off.

Rising Phoenix

The Paralympics began as a dream of showing the world what disabled people can achieve in sport, just after World War II. Three-quarters of a century later the competition has grown to be the third biggest sporting event in the world! ‘Rising Phoenix’ is the documentary that looks at the rise of a concept that turned into a movement that reached millions of individuals from those competing to those spectating. Hope springs eternal through sport is the underlying message throughout. Interviews include inspirational competitors, winning Paralympians, their families and none other than Prince Harry of England who is proud to support the games and is a well-known advocate for mental health issues. Archived footage of interviews with Paralympics founders/organisers is also included.
