All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 23rd February 2018)

One of the great things about Netflix are their Netflix Originals – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

As Netflix become even more cryptic about geographical availability please bear with us as we try to be as precise as possible about the regions Netflix Originals are available.

Mute

When Leo Beiler’s (Alex Skarsgard) girlfriend Naadirah, goes missing, Leo must overcome his mutism in order to find her. Ending up tangled in a web of underground criminalism, Leo finds himself involved with two US surgeons played by Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux, who are on a mission of their own. This British-German collaboration is catagorised as a sci-fi mystery and is directed by Duncan Jones (aka Zowie aka David Bowies Son! – bit of celebrity trivia there.) The trailer itself is a bit of a mystery as it gives very little away. Are you a sci-fi/mystery fan? Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments below.

Ugly Delicious

Ugly Delicious’ is just as it sounds – food that tastes amazing but isn’t fit for Instagram. We feel ya Chang, food here at NON – HQ is rarely eye pleasing but usually enjoyed by all none the less. David Chang travels the globe looking at food from different cultures, often home made hearty meals, in this eight part documentary series. Now we feel better about our lack of culinary skills and can get back to writing, web development and general tech roles. Phew, thanks Netflix!

Available Friday 23rd February 2018

Marseilles (Season Two)

After the gritty first season of this French series when the position of Mayor of the French city Marseille became personal as well as political, this second season looks just as explosive. Gerard Depardieu continues to play lead role of Robert Taro in this second series and other season one cast members return including; Géraldine Pailhas and Stéphane Caillard, joined by Natacha Régnier and Vladimir Consigny. The season opens where it left off. Taro is rushed into intensive care after his stroke giving the opposition a chance to take the lead in the election.

Available Friday 23rd February 2018

Seven Seconds

We all love a good cover up exposed in a crime drama and this ten-episode series, ‘Seven Seconds’ is the story of the murder of a black teenage boy and the cover up after the crime resulting in inevitable racial tension. Whilst this is not based on a true story it is based on a Russian movie titled ‘The Major’ and is produced by the same team behind ‘The Killing’ led by Executive Producer Veena Sud. Sud and her team tackle the emotive subject of racial tension in this US murder mystery story that is, not so much original but, still very much current. Regina King plays the victims mother.

Derren Brown: The Push

Do you succumb to peer pressure? Well in this one-off Netflix Special, Derren Brown, claims that we all do. The British psychological illusionist carries out a televised experiment to find out if an individual can, unbeknownst to him, be capable of being manipulated into committing murder! Can we really succumb to pressure to conform to this extent whilst believing we are in control of our own actions? This has got to be a conversation starter. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Liked Derren Brown’s ‘The Push’? Netflix will be releasing more of his specials later in the year. Watch this space.

Available Tuesday 27th February 2018

Marlon Wayans: Woke-ish

Wayans is no stranger to comedy or bad language for that matter. Wayans addresses issues from the racism at the top of the American political system to everyday life with his kids and considers himself not quite woke aka ‘Woke-ish‘. If you have a delicate constitution be warned this trailer has heavy language.
