The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow

The documentary series lands on Netflix this week but has been met with serious controversy. Long-time actor ‘Gwyneth Paltrow’ investigates her own ‘health and wellness’ company ‘Goop’ and what it has to offer. The series visits practitioners in everything from sex therapy to exorcism. Critics have labelled the so-called ‘health organisation’ for its dubious advice and rituals based on what many are calling pseudoscience that is damaging to individuals who buy into it. The organisation has strong links to anti-vax groups which have caused a riotous uproar from the public over Netflix taking this on. The six-episode series has been called nothing more than a glorified commercial for Paltrow’s business. Others have claimed the whole series is much less shocking than the trailer suggests and comes with a health warning to consult medical professionals. Watch it for yourself or boycott it, the choice is yours but we’ve done our job of telling you it’s here. Let us know in the comments your thoughts on the show.

The series is a dark reimagining of the ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ comic books that became a lighthearted series in the 1990s. The main cast returns including ‘Kiernan Shipka’, ‘Miranda Otto’ and ‘Lucy Davis’. Major themes of good vs evil, witchcraft and the occult feature in this coming-of-age horror series.
