All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 27th May 2022)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of the new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge-watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

Love Netflix Originals? Well here’s our list of ‘Top Picks’ for this week. Check out the trailers below and let us know what you’re looking forward to this week -a full list of this week’s additions and regional availability at the end of the post. Netflix isn’t always that clear about geographical availability so please bear with us as we try to be as precise as possible about where Netflix Originals will be available.

Stranger Things

It’s a quiet week for Netflix Originals this week BUT here at New On Netflix HQ we’re still happy as the show the majority of Netflix subscribers have been waiting for – ‘Stranger Things’ Season Four lands this week – FINALLY! Well, at least the first part does. The second instalment of this season is not set to land until 1st July. For now, though we look set to receive more of what we have all become accustomed to in the Stranger Things journey. Ok, we realise many of you may have no interest in the sci-fi/teen series but we are firmly in the camp that is team ST. So, Eleven and her gang are back after what seems like an incredibly long wait but the story is actually only six months on from the ‘Battle of Starcourt’ that took place in S3. The award-winning show plunges us straight back into the complexities of the “Upside Down” as the teen characters continue to battle with the difficulties of high school during an apocalyptic crisis. We say – bring it on…

Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery.

and for those thirsty for more here’s a longer trailer…

Available globally from Friday 27th May 2022

Mighty Little Bheem: I Love Taj Mahal

Green Gold Animations has, since 2019, produced 3 lengthy seasons of the animation series that features Little Bheem as well as numerous 3-part specials. The series is non-verbal to appeal to a universal audience and takes children on a journey of morals and geographical sites. Often including religious festivals and events, the show is educational. The youngster, Mighty Little Bheem returns with this latest offering – a film set in India where Little Bheem must return a pink teddy bear to its rightful owner whilst it is under threat of being stolen.

Available from Monday 30th May 2022

Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special

During the coronavirus pandemic and consequential lockdown, long-time SNL comedian Norm Macdonald decided to record an hour-long special from his home in one take! Obviously, this would be challenging for anyone but Macdonald was also sick. Suffering from cancer, this was to be his last comedy set as he sadly passed away last September and Netflix has decided to turn it into a Netflix Stand Up Comedy Special. The special is made even more so by the fact it includes footage from the memorial that took place for him in May this year that included conversations from his friends and fellow comedians including Adam Sandler, Conan O’Brien, Dave Chappelle, David Letterman, David Spade and Molly Shannon. We don’t have a trailer for the show but here is a snippet of his appearance on Conan for your viewing pleasure, enjoy.

Borgen – Power & Glory

All is not fair in politics. Birgitte Nyborg is the new foreign affairs minister for Denmark. Elected by the votes of those behind her policies around climate change she now finds herself in dangerous waters as neighbouring Greenland is found to have oil by a drilling company. An almighty power struggle begins threatening everything she has fought for and decisions must be made for the good of her country but what about her career? Created by Adam Price, the series spans eight episodes and whilst Nordic countries have had access to it since April, the rest of the world sees it land next week – Thursday 2nd June.
