Shaft

The rebirth of the 1970’s classic private detective character John Shaft in 2000 starring Samuel L Jackson now has a sequel courtesy of Warner Brothers. The 2019 film ‘Shaft’ has the same title as it’s predecessor ‘Shaft’ (2000). After its release in cinemas mid-June in the U.S, plans to release to the rest of the world this week via Netflix, are in place. ‘Samuel L Jackson’ returns to play Shaft who is confronted with the opportunity to help his estranged son John Shaft Jr (Jessie Usher), an FBI agent with an MIT degree in cybersecurity, as he struggles to investigate sinister events of his childhood friends death. When a third generational spin is introduced by way of John Jr’s grandfather, played by original 1970’s private detective John Shaft ‘Richard Rowntree’, the trio must work together and look beyond their differences to find the answers to the questions they are looking to solve in this comedy action movie. This will be the fifth movie in the ‘Shaft’ franchise.

Designated Survivor: 60 Days

Fans of American show ‘Designated Survivor’ may be interested in this reworking of the popular political drama series. A Korean environmental minister who stumbled upon his political career finds he is catapulted into the role of President after a disaster in which the President is killed. The series follows him as he struggles to run the country in the wake of a disaster for 60 days. This series forms part of a current drive to meet the demand for Korean language drama that has become apparent since Netflix began adding Korean language content three years ago.

Available globally except for Korea from Monday 1st July 2019

Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room

Comedian Katherine Ryan has taken the world by storm. As an international performer, she has proved popular with a wide range of audiences. In her new Netflix Special ‘Glitter Room’, Ryan is outrageously funny as she tells it exactly how it is, no holds (or language) barred. Raising a child as a single parent is what makes up a large proportion of the material in her show but far from a cry of self-pity, Ryan declares independence, choice and partnership with her daughter. There are plenty of laughs at the expense of celebrities and politicians too which along with the realist attitude of school gates and cupcakes may leave the viewer with a distinct feeling of comradery with Ms Ryan as an ordinary woman and mother.

Stranger Things (Season Three)

So, here it is, the one we’ve all been waiting for; ‘Stranger Things’ is finally back! The third season of this immensely popular series revisits Indiana to the small town of Hawkins two years after the original events of season one. Now the 80’s teen team are reunited again for Independence Day in 1985 and the town has a new mall to hang out in. As they approach adulthood, explore relationships that may change the dynamic of the group oh and take on the Demogorgon from the ‘Upsidedown’ that wants to finish them and the world. Just a regular summer in Hawkins huh?

So now you are hyped after seeing the official final trailer and realise how much you missed the 80’s kids etc. Here’s another little snippet of them also missing each other and what they are about to come up against! We love Stranger Things and are hyped for this season. Bring it on Netflix! Series three will consist of eight episodes which will all land on Netflix globally on Thursday 4th July, just in time for a weekend #StrangerThings binge-watch!
