All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 2nd March 2018)

One of the great things about Netflix is their Netflix Original content – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! B:The Beginning

Let’s kick off this week with a little Japanese Anime shall we. The nation of Cremona (a nation primarily made up of small islands) is corrupt and crime levels are high as police investigator Keith, has his hands full trying to capture the legendary ‘Killer B’ as he commits crime across nations fortified city.

Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Those who love or whose kids love Voltron will be pleased to hear the fifth season of this popular animated show, will be available this week. The paladins still struggle to figure out if Prince Lotor can be trusted. The group of teenagers must work quickly to resolve the issues in this fast paced series with twists and turns. Netflix are being a little cagey about where Voltron will be available but if seasons 1-4 are anything to go by we can expect the territories detailed in the summary below.

Flint Town

“How can a city fall so far that we lose sight of the possibility of a solution?” This powerful documentary challenges the genre of true crime as it looks at the issues from the inside out. The view of the police force. The city of Flint, Michigan, once affluent, is inflicted with poverty and crime. When disaster struck an already struggling city, things got worse. In a country where the average police to population is 283 officers per 100,000 residents this documentary explores what life is like in a city over run with crime that has a population of 100,000 people but only 98 police officers and how are they expected to cope let alone improve.

Ghost Wars

Roman Mercer (Avan Jogia) must overcome his issues about being a psychic’s son that has given him the status of an outcast as he harnesses his own ‘gift’ to help the town find out why it is being haunted! A good and proper ghost story with lots of jumps and hiding behind a cushion.

Girls Incarcerated – Young and Locked Up

This documentary series filmed inside Madison Correctional Facility which is a female prison and examines the lives of the young women that have found themselves there. These teenage girls have the chance to change their lives, if they want to. Check out the trailer…

Ravenous (aka Les Affamés)

Apocalyptic thriller, directed by Robin Aubert, set in a small village in Quebec. The population is starving causing changes in behaviour which soon become terrifying. The changed begin biting and changing their loved ones not unlike zombie characters. Apparently they have a love for old household items and screeching too. On a serious note the film is eerie with a quiet dialogue. French language with English subtitles. Click on the image to watch the trailer on Netflix.

Malena Pichot: Estupidez Compleja

In line with Netflix latest drive to include a more international range of comedy Estupidez Compleja by Malena Pichot is the first of this weeks three stand up comedy specials. Pichot covers feminism with her punchy lines on women’s issues across the board from sex and relationships to language and dating.

Natalia Valdebenito: El Especial

The second of this weeks three stand up comedy specials is the aptly titled ‘El Especial’. Valdbenito is  also a feminist covering topics such as sex, reproduction and the rights of women.

Gad Elmaleh: American Dream

French comedian Gad Elmaleh talks about his relocation from Paris to New York. In his show ‘American Dream’ (his first full stand up show in English) he talks of not only the relocation but all that comes with it including dating in New York as a French man and how he wishes Paris was how Americans think it is.

Jessica Jones (Season Two)

Marvel fans will probably already be aware of and no doubt eagerly awaiting the return of Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) in this second season.  “Some people call me a hero, others, call me a freak.” As Jessica recovers from murdering her arch enemy Kilgrave, she continues to use her strength to fight injustice as a private investigator whilst still searching for the truth from the past about herself.
