Carole & Tuesday

This anime series has been well sought after over the past few months with anime fans slating Netflix for holding on to it in the name of binge-watching this September, particularly in the US. We’ve been assured it’ll be worth the wait though as one of the best music/anime productions. Carole & Tuesday are two girls who share a love of music and when they meet by chance, their lives are turned around forever. They set out on a journey to create music together and climb the music industry ladder, a difficult task against as the majority of music is produced by AI. The series is a brave 24 episodes long and it has been speculated that this will be because of an underlying love story however some anime fans/YouTubers hope this is not the case as to take away from the music would be a disservice. As with other music/anime collaborations, the two girls are voiced by real, aspiring musicians who are relatively unknown in the music or anime world. Nai Br.XX and Celeina Ann are the two real-world musicians whose voices are featured. Together the pair worked hard on their harmonies that create a beautiful sound. Still, as great as this sounds, 24 episodes is quite a commitment. Let’s hope it’s worth it.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

For those of us old enough to remember Jim Henson’s puppet movie ‘The Dark Crystal’ of 1982 you will no doubt have recognised the name immediately but if you are not or you’ve never heard of it, don’t let this put you off. This is in fact a prequel to the original feature-length puppet animated movie. Originally set to be a feature-length movie itself, ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ had so much original material that it was decided that to not include it would not do Henson justice and a series was born. Production has taken some time with a few hiccups but early in 2017 the puppets were made at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in L.A. Once the puppets were transported to London, filming began. Since that point, the show has been eagerly awaited by original and new fans. The voices of the puppet characters include some big names in the industry; Sigourney Weaver, Helena Bonham-Carter, Simon Pegg and Eddie Izzard to name but a few. The synopsis? The Gelflings Rian, Brea and Reet must form a plan to save their world ‘Threa’ from the ‘Skeksis’.
