We will aim to post every week on Thursday evening with what will be available over the coming week. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge-watch! This area is exclusively for Netflix Originals, for general Netflix additions and removals or to view the current full catalogue check out your regional New On Netflix website.

Love Netflix Originals? Well here’s our list of ‘Top Picks’ for this week. Check out the trailers below and let us know what you’re looking forward to this week -full list of this week’s additions and regional availability at the end of the post. Netflix aren’t always that clear about geographical availability so please bear with us as we try to be as precise as possible about where Netflix Originals will be available. If in doubt titles will be listed simply as [Original] in the full list at the end of the post and as ‘available in selected regions’ within the post.

The Baby-Sitter’s Club

Based on ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ series of novels, the new Netflix series features a group of middle-schoolers who go all entrepreneur and set up a babysitting club in their area. The girls come from different home-lives and bring their own issues to the club but they work through them as all morally-binding pre-high school stories do. The book series and subsequent spin-offs have been popular with kids since publications began in the mid-1980s. This modern-day interpretation incorporates some of the traditional scenes found in Ann Martin’s books and earlier television and film versions,  as we can see in the trailer as the girls wait around a retro landline telephone complete with glowing handset straight out of the 1990s. With a book series that ran until 2000 and sold 176 million copies, ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ series is sure to be as much of a hit with 2020’s kids (if they can put their phones down long enough to watch) as it was for their parents.

When Wes is devastated that a man she met is ‘ghosting’ her she does what all women do – get together with their friends, drink too much and do something erratic. Wes and her friends send Jared a scathing email telling him where to go in no uncertain terms. Then Jared gets in touch to apologise for not being around as he has been in an accident and can’t access his emails because he is in the hospital! Would it be crazy if Wes and her friends shot off on the first flight to Mexico to stop the email ever reaching Jared’s eyes? Of course, it would but hey, this is Hollywood! So in true movie style, they do just that. Expect stomach-grabbing laughing in this ‘Bridesmaids’ style movie, as tears roll both happy and sad in solidarity with these 30-something ladies – it’s bound to be an emotional rollercoaster. Starring Anna Camp, Robbie Amell, Nasim Pedrad, Lamorne Morris, Heather Graham and Sarah Burns.

The Hater

Director Jan Komasa (‘Corpus Christi’) delivers this deep dive into the vitriolic world of online smear campaigns. Tomek (Maciej Musiałowski), a disgraced law student, kicked out for plagiarism takes a job at a marketing company and realises pretty quick that his hugely immoral tactics expected by the company, have dreadful consequences in the real world. His obsession for a girl from a wealthy family drives him to hide his past and what he does for a living in order to grow closer to Gabi (Vanessa Aleksander).

Mucho-Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado

Walter Mercado, the eccentric astrologer, was a Latino-household name for decades. Ever-exuding positivity love and extravagance, the people enjoyed his TV and public appearances until one day that all disappeared and so had Mercardo by all accounts. Escaping his very public lifestyle to adopt a private one was a shock in itself for fans of the Puerto Rican. Of course, life moves on but what happened to the larger than life, non-gender-conforming Walter Mercardo? Directors and filmmakers Cristina Costantini and Kareem Tabsch seek to find answers to these questions in exclusive interviews with Mercardo himself and those around him and archived footage. The documentary looks at what Walter Mercardo did with his time in his later years.

An heir hostess is missing and whilst her loved ones search for her, she finds herself in an immigration detainment centre alongside other unlikely and not so unlikely individuals. As the group of now ‘misfits’ get to know each other they connect deeply as each of them processes what has happened and encourage each other to fight through this terrifying ordeal. The story is loosely based on the true story of Cornelia Rau who was a German-born, permanent resident of Australia who was mistakenly detained due to the mandatory detainment law in Australia.  Stars; Cate Blanchett, Yvonne Strahovski, Asher Keddie, Fayssal Bazzi, Marta Dusseldorp and Dominic West.
