All this week’s Netflix Originals (Available from Friday 8th September 2017)

One of the great things about Netflix are their Netflix Originals – be it films or series made by Netflix themselves or exclusive content available only on Netflix after it airs on regular TV. Every week we will give you a round-up of new Netflix Originals becoming available in the next week. We will aim to post every week on Wednesday evening with what will be available over the coming week starting the following Friday. Perfect if you’re looking to check out what new Originals are available to watch over your weekend or if you’re planning a week-long Netflix binge watch! Evening ladies and gents! So Netflix have gotten a little excited this week and after providing us with only a few new releases weekly for a while, they’ve chosen to bless us this week with ten Netflix Original releases (including four season updates). Not only that but they sneakily dropped in five extra Originals (one of which is a season update) for last week after our publishing deadline. So let’s start with those additions to last weeks releases and buckle up guys for this weeks mammoth list…

Final Fantasy XIV: Dad of Light

Based on a true story, eight episodes long and available globally, barring Japan. A father and son rekindle their relationship after the father mysteriously quits his job. As the online role-playing game “Final Fantasy XIV” brings them together, will Akios uncover his fathers secret? Spin off from the actual online role-playing game “Final Fantasy”.

Little Evil

In this comedy-horror, Gary (Adam Scott) and his new wife Samantha (Evangeline lily) are struggling with Gary’s new step son Lucas. Gary, convinced his new stepson is evil and sets out to investigate. Is his new son the anti-Christ?!

Winner of the Tribeca Film Festival 2017 Special Jury Prize, “Resurface”  follows one veteran’s difficulties suffering from PTSD . The documentary film shows how surfing the ocean helped him overcome the waves he encountered in his life and documents how he has introduced other vets with mental and physical health challenges to ocean therapy.

Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale

Fans of Lego’s Elves range will be happy to see the new series on Netflix. After a successful web series, “Lego Elves:Secrets of Elvendale” is now available in this Netflix Original animated series. In this first season teenager Emily Jones is tasked with saving her sister and the whole of ‘Elvendale’, with her team of Elf friends.

Shooter (Season Two)


Season two of the popular US series based on the 2007 film of the same name and Stephen Hunter’s novel “The Point of Impact.” Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Phillipe), a retired military sniper is coaxed out of retirement only to be double crossed and forced into hiding. Season two is only a Netflix Original in the following regions; UK, Ireland, Latin America, Nordics, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland and Asian Pacific.

So now we’ve caught up on those sneaky, last-minute, additions to last week, here’s this week’s round-up;


Dog loving, wanna be vet, high school student Dani Barnes discovers her long-term crush has mutual feelings. The problem is his ex is the one and only famous social media star Alexa. Dani must learn to love who she is in this teenage drama or jeopardise everything she’s ever wanted and a chance to attend the world’s top veterinary school.

Bojack Horseman (Season Four)

Bojack Horseman (voiced by Will Arnott) stars as the main character in this adult themed animated series who after rising to fame as star of 90’s sitcom “Horsin’ Around” is now struggling to deal with the curveballs life throws at us all but all that is changing as Bojack is making a comeback!

The Expanse (Season Two)

Spin off from the popular novel series of the same name. A detective and space ship captain work together to solve the case of a missing woman only to find themselves fighting against a bigger conspiracy. Season two of The Expanse is a Netflix Original globally except for the US, Canada and New Zealand regions where the series has already aired and a third season is set to air on Syfy in the US in 2018.

Spirit: Riding Free (Season Two)

The second season of the ‘Dreamworks’ children’s animated series based on the oscar nominated animated movie “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.” Free spirited city-girl “Lucky” continues her adventures in the wild west with her best friend Spirit the stallion. The wilful pair enjoy many adventures together once they discover they are kindred spirits.

Fire Chasers

Documentary series of four episodes covering the devastating effects of the Californian wildfires. The series follows the Los Angeles fire department and the government agency ‘Cal Fire’ that have been established to attempt to minimise the damage whilst addressing the cause of these terrifying wildfire disasters.  The ‘Fire season’ of California has lengthened and increased in ferocity in the last 40 years due to many causes including climate control and the problem is growing year on year. This eye-opening documentary is a global original to Netflix.

Fabrizio Copano: Solo Pienso En Mi

Chilean comedian Fabrizio Copano’s Stand Up Comedy Special “Solo Pienso En Mi” translated “I Only Think About Me” is filmed live in Buenos Aires and reflects on modern day issues such as; family ‘WhatsApp’ groups and the use of sperm banks. Greenhouse Academy

US remake of the Nutz Productions’ original series ‘The Greenhouse.’ Two high school student siblings earn a place at a prestigious boarding school named “The Greenhouse” after the untimely death of their astronaut mother whilst returning from a space mission. The brother and sister are placed in rival school houses The Ravens and The Eagles but must convince the rival teams to join forces to combat the sinister conspiracies they uncover during their time there.

The Confession Tapes


US documentary series of 7 episodes examining the ‘confessions’ of individuals under arrest. Said individuals claim that the confessions ranged from coerced to completely fabricated. The documentary series look at what makes people confess to a crime they didn’t commit.

Outlander (Season Three)

Time travel romantic drama based on the series of time travelling romance novels by Diana Gabaldon. This third season is based on the third book in the ‘Outlander’ series ‘Voyager’ and follows the story of a nurse living in 1945, Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and her 18th century highland warrior love Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The series consists of 13 episodes. The show already aired in the US but is a regional Netflix Original (see summary at the end of this post) and a fourth season has been announced that will be based on the fourth book in the ‘Outlander’ series, ‘Drums of Autumn.’

Jeff Dunham; Relative Disaster

Jeff Dunham, US comedian and ventriloquist of global fame brings his team of dummies including the infamous ‘Dead Terrorist’ to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin, Ireland where his debut Netflix Stand Up Comedy Special is filmed.

  1. You say that Expanse is a Star Trek spin off but as far as I know it has nothing to do with it. It’s set in an original SF universe and has no connection to trek. It’s also bloody good!!!
