A new anime series and a prequel film have been announced by Netflix for Zach Snyder’s upcoming zombie film “Army of The Dead”. The series, “Army of The Dead: Lost Vegas”, chronicles the origin story of Scott (Dave Bautista) and his rescue crew during the initial fall of Vegas as they confront the mysterious source of the zombie outbreak.
The prequel movie will be produced in Germany and will be directed by and star Grimme Award winner Matthias Schweighöfer. It will follow his “Army of the Dead” character “Ludwig Dieter”.
Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” will premier in 2021 and stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi and Huma Qureshi along with Omari Hardwick (“Power”), Chris D’Elia (“You”), Hiroyuki Sanada (“Avengers: Endgame”), Garret Dillahunt (“Widows”), Matthias Schweighöfer (“You Are Wanted”), Raúl Castillo (“We The Animals”), Nora Arnezeder (“Maniac”), Samantha Win (“Arrow”), and Rich Cetrone (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”).
The film follows a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas where a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble: venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
