Annihilation to Stream Globally on Netflix Shortly After US Theatrical Release

The upcoming movie “Annihilation” from Paramount will be coming to Netflix around the world just 17 days after it’s American theatrical release, which will be on 23rd February 2018. Alex Garland’s (‘Ex-Machina’) film is a sci-fi thriller based on the novel of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer.

Starring Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Gina Rodriguez “Annihilation” sees a biologist (Portman) volunteering for a secret mission into alien territory — a cordoned-off forest where a shape-shifting being awaits.

    1. Apparently this sort of film does well in the US but not elsewhere. The studio will likely make more money with a guaranteed fee from Netflix than taking a risk with normal theatrical release. Studio will make the money so no reason why it being on Netflix would mean no sequel.
