Netflix has announced a new documentary series that sees a number of music artists breaking down one of their songs and giving a fresh insight into their work. In “Song Exploder”, based on the podcast of the same name, host Hrishikesh Hirway and Oscar®-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville interview artists to as they reveal how they brought one of their songs to life. The series uses interviews, archive footage and raw recordings to tell the story. Volume 1, which arrives on October 2nd, features four artists highlighted below.
- Alicia Keys – “3 Hour Drive” (from her 2020 album, ALICIA)
- Lin-Manuel Miranda – “Wait for It” (from the musical phenomenon “Hamilton”)
- R.E.M. – “Losing My Religion” (from the 1991 album “Out of Time”)
- Ty Dolla $ign – “LA” (the opening track from his gold-certified major label debut album, FREE TC)
