Cast and Details Announced for “The Witcher: Blood Origin” – Live-Action Prequel Series

Michelle Yeoh (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”) has joined the cast of Netflix’s spin-off series for “The Witcher” titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin”. The 6-part, live action series is set 1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia and will tell of the origins of the first Witcher. Yeoh will play the sword-elf Scian, whose deadly quest to retrieve a stolen sacred sword will lead her on a journey that will change the outcome of the Continent. Also starring in the series is Laurence O’Fuarain (“Vikings”) who will star in the role of Fjall, a warrior who finds himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil.

Sophia Brown (“Giri/Haji”) has also been announced to be playing Éile, an elite warrior-turned-nomadic musician who is forced to return to the way of the blade after a grand reckoning on the Continent sends her on a quest for vengeance and redemption.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell the story of the creation of the prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres.

“The Witcher” premiered in December 2019 with season 2 expected later this year. Netflix are also working on an anime series based on the franchise with “The Witcher: Nightmare of The Wolf”.

The series are based on the best-selling fantasy series by author Andrzej Sapkowski and we will post more news once we have more details!
