The CWs upcoming series “Black Lightning”, based on the DC comic book superhero, premieres in the USA next month (16th January) and it could be making it’s way to Netflix around the globe. In a news post from Deadline about NBC’s “Good Girls” being picked up by Netflix for international distribution (in a similar way to “Dynasty” and “Star Trek: Discovery” they mentioned “Black Lightning” as having a similar deal. We are unable to find any other source for this other than the Deadline article and there is no official confirmation so there is still a chance that it may not happen. Fingers crossed though and here are the references in the article:
Dynasty, from CBS TV Studios, was the third CW series to go to Netflix internationally, joining Warner Bros. TV’s Riverdale and Black Lightning.
In addition to the two deals with CBS TV Studios for Star Trek: Discovery and Dynasty and two at WBTV for Riverdale and Black Lightning, there are five, including the pending Nightflyers, at UCP.
We’ll keep you informed if we hear anything official but fans of the Arrowverse (“Arrow”, “The Flash”, “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Supergirl”) may be disapointed to hear “Black Lightning” is not part of the Arrowverse and there are no planned crossover events.
