Count Olaf Plans to Ruin the New Year: Season 3 of A Series of Unfortunate Events Arrives 1st January

Sworn enemies Lemony Snicket and Count Olaf have announced the release date for season 3 of “A Series of Unfortunate Events” and Count Olaf is hoping to ruin your new year. The final part of the Netflix Original Series will arrive on 1st January, 2019. Season 1 covered books 1-4 across 8 episodes, season 2 covered books 5-9 across 10 episodes and season 3 will cover the final 4 books of the 13-book series across 7 episodes.

Season 3 follows the Baudelaire orphans as they continue to evade the villainous Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) while digging deeper in the mysterious secret organization that has been part of their lives since the beginning. While some fans may have been disappointed by “The End”’s open-ended conclusion in the books, Sonnenfeld assures EW that he, the writers, and author Daniel Handler worked together to craft an ending that remained true to the final book but also expanded on it.
