David Fincher’s psychological thriller series “MINDHUNTER” has been put on an indefinite hiatus at Netflix with cast being released from their contracts. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it is believed that the director felt it was unfair to keep actors from seeking work while Fincher works on other projects such as the upcoming Netflix film “Mank” and the second season of “Love, Death and Robots”.
TV Line published this statement from Netflix:
David is focused on directing his first Netflix film ‘Mank’ and on producing the second season of ‘Love, Death and Robots’. He may revisit ‘Mindhunter’ again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.
The popular series is based on a book by former special agent John E. Douglas (“Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit”) and directed by David Fincher (“Gone Girl”, “Seven”, “Fight Club”). The first series was set in 1979 and told Douglas’ story of how they interviewed imprisoned serial killers and try to use that knowledge to solve ongoing cases – the series was released in October 2017. Season 2 premiered in August 2019 and focused on the Atlanta child murders in 1979-81.
God damn it. Best thing on there by a distance.

What a shame, I thought it was superb!
Anni Gunn
Aileen
Sarah Henriques Noooo 🙁
AWESOME show but I can understand the reasoning behind it which is fair to the cast. Fingers crossed the next season is timed so that all the actors can resume their roles. Holt is a particular favorite of mine, and no one can play Kemper like Cameron does. Can’t wait until it’s back!!!
Emma Jane Gregory
Its not a bad thing. Means the director is working on other stuff so the actors, runner and everyone else can work in other stuff then they can come back to it. Tbh wish more shows would do it
Fincher is worth waiting for
Indefinite hiatus means cancelled?
Shit. I’m waiting and waiting!
