Duncan Jones (“Warcraft”) originally wrote the first draft of “Mute” way back in 2003 but family circumstances, among other things, meant it was frequently delayed. It was supposed to be his first film but, thanks to Netflix backing the project, the film is finally being released and you won’t have to wait too long.
“Mute” stars Alex Skarsgård, Justin Theroux & Paul Rudd. Set in a futuristic Berlin, Leo (Skarsgård) has been mute since a childhood accident and is searching for his missing girlfriend. Along the way he gets mixed up with Cactus Bill (Rudd) and Duck (Theroux) – two irreverent US army surgeons on a mission of their own.
A mute man with a violent past is forced to take on the teeming underworld of a near-future Berlin as he searches for his missing girlfriend.
This soulful sci-fi journey from filmmaker Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft) imagines a world of strange currencies in which echoes of love and humanity are still worth listening to.
“Mute” arrives globally on February 23rd – expect a trailer soon.
