Less than a week after Netflix ‘rescued’ “The Cloverfield Paradox” from Paramount we’ve learnt through Variety that Netflix have also acquired another ‘doomed’ sci-fi flick, this time from Universal. “Extinction”, starring Lizzy Caplan and Michael Peña, was originally scheduled to be released at the end of January but was removed from the release schedule in November last year. Now, Netflix have the worldwide distribution rights and will be releasing the movie later in 2018. While the studio obviously felt that the film might not do well in the cinema, it would seem that Netflix feel it will have a good home on their streaming service.
