Netflix’s 2019 family hit “Raising Dion” was renewed for a second season in early 2020 and now we know it will launch on February 1st. The series was one of the most popular shows released in 2019 and starred newcomer Ja’Siah Young as ‘Dion Reese’ and Alisha Wainwright (“Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments”) as his mother, ‘Nicole Reese’. Season 1 follows the story of a woman named Nicole Reese, who raises her son Dion after the death of her husband Mark (Michael B. Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several magical, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.
Season 2 is set two years later and follows Dion as he continues honing his powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who catches Nicole’s eye. After befriending new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) — a fellow powered kid — a series of alarming events unfold, and Dion learns that danger is still looming. Navigating twists, turns, and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again — not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta.

The series is based on the comic book by Dennis Liu who also created this short promotional video (note this is not footage from the Netflix series):
