As the Covid-19 ‘lockdown’ begins to ease, many of us may still not be returning to work or going back to school and may be wondering what to watch on Netflix – well, wonder no longer! Here at New On Netflix we’ve put together a list of what we (with the help of our social media users) think are the best things that have been added to Netflix UK this week.
For film fans this week we have the comedy special Urzila Carlson: Overqualified Loser where stand-up comedian Urzila Carlson keeps the crowd roaring with her thoughts on recasting “The Biggest Loser,” sex tape regrets and boxed wine hangovers. In the contemporary take on the classic fairy tale Cinderella DJ Cinderella A fiercely independent and disillusioned with love, a teen DJ is determined to chart her own path, till a pop heartthrob falls for her awesome mix. In the comedy MILF three best friends in their forties start a relationship with younger men while on vacation. In the horror film Slender Man a group of girls who are desperate to find their missing friend, summon the entity they believe took her, the evil legend of Internet lore, Slender Man.
For TV fans this week we have the British sitcom Crashing which sees a hodgepodge group of 20-something tenants set up residence as property guards in a disused hospital, where hilarity ensues. In the fantasy drama Cursed a teenage sorceress named Nimue encounters a young Arthur on his quest to find a powerful and ancient sword. In the Korean comedy Hotel Del Luna an elite hotelier gets to know the establishment’s ancient owner and her strange world, when he is invited to manage a hotel for dark souls. In the Mexican TV show Dark Desire married Alma spends a fateful weekend away from home that ignites passion, ends in tragedy and leads her to question the truth about those close to her. In the Brazilian mystery Kissing Game families of the teens at rural high school panic when the teens contract a mysterious “kissing disease” that quickly spreads. For fans of reality TV we have Skin Decision: Before and After which sees skin and beauty expert Nurse Jamie and plastic surgeon Dr. Sheila Nazarian use the latest procedures to bring out their clients’ best selves. In the British show Celebs Go Dating an exclusive dating agency attempts to match single celebrities with various members of the public. In Buy It Now entrepreneurs must pitch their products to an audience of shoppers in hopes of securing an order from a national retailer in only 90 seconds. Body Fixers sees a team of experts set out to help everyday people with their beauty blunders and cosmetic woes. Indian Matchmaking sees matchmaker Sima Taparia guides clients in the U.S. and India in the arranged marriage process, offering an inside look at the custom in a modern era.
The documentaries that have been added this week are 24 Hours in A&E which is filmed in one of Britain’s busiest accident and emergency departments, where the staff takes on medical trauma and high drama around the clock. The Business of Drugs sets out to understand the origins and true impact of the business of drugs, a former CIA analyst investigates the economics of six illicit substances. Father Soldier Son follows Sgt. First Class Brian Eisch after he is critically wounded in Afghanistan, which sets him and his sons on a journey of love, loss, redemption and legacy. Finally for documentaries we have We Are One where activists around the world fight injustice and drive social change in this documentary that follows their participation in the music video “Solidarité.”
For kids this week we have Little Singham: Legend of Dugabakka where fears rise over a ghost known for nighttime abductions, Mirchi Nagar residents look to the only person they know can save them: Little Singham! and Sunny Bunnies where Furry little bunnies hop through wild adventures as they find solutions, fun and sometimes mischief wherever there is light.
