Full List of Everything Added to Netflix UK This Week (1st May 2020)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

As we’ve entered an extended period of ‘lockdown’ due to Coronavirus Covid-19 you may be wondering what to watch on Netflix – well, wonder no longer! Here at New On Netflix we’ve put together a list of what we (with the help of our social media users) think are the best things that have been added to Netflix UK this week.

There have been some great film additions this week with the most popular being the return of the family-friendly classic Labyrinth. The film, starring the late David Bowie, tells the story of a teenaged girl Sarah who enters a fantastical labyrinth to rescue her baby brother from The Goblin King. Another popular addition this week is The Martian – a sci-fi drama where an astronaut gets abandoned on Mars after mistakenly being left for dead and has to struggle to survive and send a message home in order to get rescued. Jupiter Ascending is another sci-fi film in which a young woman, who can change the fate of the universe, is being tracked by a genetically engineered hunter.

The action/crime film Four Brothers tells the story of, you guessed it, four brothers who return to Detroit after their mother is murdered in order to exact revenge on the killer. The 2015 remake of classic 60s TV show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. has been a popular addition this week and sees a CIA agent and a KGB operative put their differences aside to combat a global crime organisation. Speaking of remakes there is also the 2010 horror remake of the 80s classic slasher A Nightmare on Elm Street. For something a bit more relaxed we have the romantic comedy You’ve Got Mail and the British comedy Adult Life Skills starring a pre-Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker.

There are lots of TV additions this week including the first 7 seasons of American sitcom Modern Family and all 7 seasons of New Girl. Nadiya’s Time to Eat is a new BBC cooking series that specialises in how to make quick, but fulfilling meals for time-strapped families. For Netflix Original series this week we have a new Belgian thriller Into the Night which sees the sun suddenly start killing people and the ‘lucky’ people on a plane need to keep flying West to stay out of the light. Ryan Murphy’s new series, Hollywood, takes a ‘what if’ approach to the history of Hollywood and imagines how things could have been different if things like race, sexuality and gender were handled differently in the film world. Never Have I Ever takes a lighthearted look at an Indian-American teenager who wants to become popular but her traditional family have other things in mind. And, finally for TV we have season 4 of the Viking drama series The Last Kingdom.

For those wanting to do some learning during the lockdown we have a new limited series from Vox and Netflix called Coronavirus, Explained. The single episode (with more coming in Summer) discusses how pandemics occur and gives some history and facts about the current Coronavirus outbreak. Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story tells the story of a 16 year old who was sentenced to life behind bars for murder but questions about her past, physiology and the law itself call her guilt into question. And finally for documentaries we have A Secret Love – a story about two women who kept their love a secret for decades and the difficulties they faced when coming out late in life.

For children and families this week we have a few great additions including a fun scientific series Oh Yuck; season 2 of Transformers: Cyberverse; and the films Mouse Hunt, Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat and The Rugrats Movie.
