Full List of Everything Added to Netflix UK This Week (20th September 2019)

Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to the streaming service in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

The most popular film this week has been the return of the Norwegian film Trollhunter. The film sees some students making a documentary about a bear hunter that turns out to be hunting trolls for a secret government department. The comedy/horror film Happy Death Day has also been a popular addition this week and sees a college student trapped in a loop where she gets killed on a daily basis – think of Groundhog Day but with more death and less Bill Murray. Heading back to Norway we have the British crime thriller The Snowman which stars Michael Fassbender as a detective on the hunt for a brutal killer who left his victim’s scarf wrapped around an ominous snowman.

We also have the 2019 action film Avengement in which a hardened convict escapes from prison to exact revenge against the people who made him a killer – this was added earlier in the month but removed on the same day; it is now back again! The classic tale of Robin Hood gets a modern makeover with Taron Egerton starring as a war-weary thief who masquerades as a frivolous playboy while secretly leading a revolt against the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham. Finally for films we have the 1982 Chinese martial arts film Five Elements Ninjas which sees five ninjas whose fighting styles are based on natural elements unleash their fury on a rival school causing a lone survivor to vow deadly revenge.

For documentaries this week there are some great new additions. Firstly there is Surviving R. Kelly which looks into the history of allegations about singer R, Kelly sexually and mentally abusing women over the years. For true crime we have been given Cold Case Files Classic and Cold Case Files which shows how forensic science and criminal psychology are used to re-examine long standing, and sometimes closed, cases. Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates takes a trip inside the mind of Bill Gates as the billionaire opens up about those who influenced him and the audacious goals he’s still pursuing.

For TV this week the big addition is the Criminal ‘series’ made up of Criminal: UK, Criminal: France, Criminal: Germany and Criminal: Spain. Each country’s series is made up of 3 episodes and tries to solve a crime – the catch being that the whole story is told from within the police interview room. Matt Groening’s Original series Disenchantment has returned with more episodes in Part 2 of season 1 where a free spirited princess wreaks havoc with her demon and elf pals. Season 2 of Channel 4’s dark comedy series Flowers has been added along with more episodes of the BBC classic Only Fools and Horses.

For children and families we have the great comedy animation The Lego Batman Movie which is full of DC comic heroes having to team up with the villains to try and save their world. The classic drama Free Willy tells the story of a young boy who bonds with a killer whale while he is on community service. A Cinderella Story is a modern retelling of Cinderella replacing the glass slipper with a lost mobile phone – can Sam find the mysterious girl of his dreams? And finally as we head towards Halloween there is a new special episode of the young children’s show with True: Tricky Treat Day.
