Another week has passed and, in case you missed our social media feeds, we’re here to give you the run down on this week’s additions just in time for your weekend binge sessions. Here we will give you our top picks as well as a full list of everything added to Netflix in the UK in the last week. So here are our top picks from this week’s additions on Netflix UK:

As we’ve entered an extended period of ‘lockdown’ due to Coronavirus Covid-19 you may be wondering what to watch on Netflix – well, wonder no longer! Here at New On Netflix we’ve put together a list of what we (with the help of our social media users) think are the best things that have been added to Netflix UK this week.

The films that have been added this week include Vertigo which is one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most compelling suspense films and it tells the tale of a former detective who has an all-consuming obsession with a married woman. In the 1980’s classic The Blues Brothers Jake Blues is released from prison, and along with brother Elwood he visits “The Penguin”, the last of the nuns who raised them in a boarding school. While there they learn the Archdiocese will stop supporting the school and will sell the place to the Education Authority. The only way to keep the place open is if the $5000 tax on the property is paid within 11 days. The Blues Brothers want to help, and decide to put their blues band back together and raise the money by staging a big gig. As they set off on their “mission from God” they seem to make more enemies along the way. In the late night comedy BASEketball two losers from Milwaukee, Coop & Remer, invent a new game playing basketball, using baseball rules. When the game becomes a huge success, they, along with a billionaire’s help, form the Professional Baseketball League where everyone gets the same pay and no team can change cities. Children of Men is set in London, 2027. In a dystopian world, where humans have been incapable of reproducing for eighteen years for an unknown reason, meaning the imminent extinction of the species. Britain is the one remaining civilised society on the planet, which has resulted in people wanting to emigrate there. As such, it has become a police state in order to handle the immigrants, who are placed into refugee camps. In the classic British comedy Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life the no-holds-barred Pythons explore the various facets of life – from procreation to the clang of a death knell – in their usual irreverent fashion. Monos is a highly rated film about a squadron of teen guerillas on a remote mountaintop watch over a prisoner amid drills, attacks and misdeeds. Finally for films this week we have Steve Jobs which takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.

For TV this week we have the reality TV show The Big Flower Fight which sees ten pairs of florists, sculptors and garden designers face off in a friendly floral fight to see who can build the biggest, boldest garden sculptures. In the Spanish drama series Control Z a hacker begins releasing students’ secrets to the entire high school, so the socially isolated but observant Sofía works to uncover his/her identity. In the romantic drama Sweet Magnolias lifelong friends Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue lift each other up as they juggle relationships, family and careers in the small, Southern town of Serenity. The Queen and the Conqueror [La Reina de Indias y el Conquistador] is the story of Catalina, the indigenous woman who gave away her soul, her heart and her life to a conqueror. In the teen drama Blood & Water a Cape Town teen sets out to prove whether a private-school swimming star is her sister who was abducted at birth. Also added this week were season 2 of Selling Sunset, season 22 of South Park and season 2 of Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series

For documentaries this week we have Ben Platt Live from Radio City Music Hall which sees actor Ben Platt open up a very personal songbook onstage, while backed by a full band. Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell takes an inside look at the final season of the acclaimed comedy series “Schitt’s Creek” from unseen footage to the last table read. Especial 20 años Fútbol de Primera revisits the emotional bouts and memorable highlights from the past two decades of the TV show “Fútbol de Primera.” Finally for documentaries we have History 101 which uses infographics and archival footage to deliver bite-size history lessons on scientific breakthroughs, social movements and world-changing discoveries.

For family viewing this week we have An American Tail an animated classic from 1986 which sees a young Russian mouse get separated from his family While emigrating to the United States, and he must relocate them while trying to survive in a new country. In Harry and the Hendersons the Hendersons accidentally run over a strange Bigfoot-type animal, and decide to take the friendly “Harry” home and adopt him as a pet.
