Earlier in the year we announced a number of cast that were heading to Netflix’s spin-off series for “The Witcher” titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin” and now we have a first look at the show. The 6-part, live action series is set 1,200 years before Geralt of Rivia and will tell of the origins of the first Witcher and stars Michelle Yeoh (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), Laurence O’Fuarain (“Vikings”), and Sophia Brown (“Giri/Haji”). The series will premiere in 2022.
Yeoh will play the sword-elf Scian, whose deadly quest to retrieve a stolen sacred sword will lead her on a journey that will change the outcome of the Continent. Also starring in the series is O’Fuarain will star in the role of Fjall, a warrior who finds himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil. Brown will be playing Éile, an elite warrior-turned-nomadic musician who is forced to return to the way of the blade after a grand reckoning on the Continent sends her on a quest for vengeance and redemption.
Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell the story of the creation of the prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres.
“The Witcher” premiered in December 2019 with season 2 arriving just last week. The series are based on the best-selling fantasy series by author Andrzej Sapkowski and you can also watch a short teaser below that was tagged onto the season 2 finale.
