In June we announced that Netflix is working with Dolly Parton on an eight episode anthology series called “Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings”, where each episode will be based on a song by Dolly Parton. Dolly will be appearing in the show, is the singer/songwriter and she will also be the executive producer. The first of these songs has now been announced to be “Jolene” It will star Julianne Hough as Jolene & Dolly Parton as Babe, a sparkly force of nature and Jolene’s surrogate mother.

Dolly Parton has been quoted as saying:

As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music. I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favourite songs to life with Netflix. There hasn’t been any announcement of the release date yet but we will let you know as soon as we know more.
