Katherine Langford (“13 Reasons Why”) will star in “Cursed” – an upcoming Netflix Original series from creative team Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler. The series will revolve around Langford’s Nimue, a teenager with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. Miller is know for his work on the “Sin City” and “The Dark Knight Returns” comic books and Miller wrote the screenplay for “Puss In Boots” as well as co-writing the “Lego: Ninjago Movie”. Miller and Wheeler are currently working on the book “Cursed” and it is the first time the same creative team have created the book as well as the TV series; the book is due to arrive late 2019 with no date for the Netflix series.
“The project reimagines the King Arthur legend from the point of view of sixteen-year-old Nimue—the young woman who first wielded Excalibur and became the all-powerful Lady of the Lake. Cursed will feature full-color and black and white illustrations.”
“I have always been entranced by the mythological Arthur story—and by Nimue, in particular,” Frank Miller said. “It can be interpreted in any number of ways—from a delightful children’s story, as in ‘The Sword in the Stone’, to a terrifying interpretation like ‘Excalibur’.”
“Based on the upcoming book of the same name, Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.”
