Dylan O’Brien’s latest film “Love and Monsters” is finally getting a release outside of the USA and it’s heading to Netflix. The film, which stars Maze Runner’s Dylan O’Brien, had a limited theatrical release in the USA in October 2020 and is currently only available in the USA via VoD. Paramount Pictures’ initial release schedule was for February 2021 but it was released early in America due to the Covid-19 pandemic and they have subsequently sold the international distribution right (excluding USA) to Netflix. The film will premiere globally on Netflix outside the USA on April 14th.
“Love and Monsters” is set seven years after the ‘Monsterpocalypse’ which left humanity living underground due to giant creatures taking control of the land. Joel Dawson (Dylan O’Brien) reconnects over radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick), who is now 80 miles away at a coastal colony, and begins to fall for her again. As Joel realizes that there’s nothing left for him underground, he decides against all logic to venture out to his love, despite all the monsters that stand in his way. The film is described as a “fun-filled and action-packed adventure” and also stars Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt.
“Love and Monsters” is rated 12 in the UK for language, sex references and violence.
