Season 5 will released in two parts with 8 episodes in each – making it 60% longer with 16, instead of the usual 10, episodes.
Netflix picked up the Warner Bros. series for a fourth season, which was released in May last year, after being dropped by Fox after three seasons. Co-showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said: “We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms. Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!” (TV Line). The series stars Tom Ellis as the titular fallen angel and the Lord of Hell, who works with the LAPD to take down Earth’s criminals.
