Mark Millar’s “The Magic Order”, Netflix’s First Comic, Will Be Made Into A Series After All

Last year Deadline announced that the TV adaptation of the MillarWorld/Netflix comic series “The Magic Order” was no longer going ahead as planned. However, in a recent mailshot from MillarWorld it was announced that the second arc of comics was coming after Summer and that “volumes 2, 3 and 4 currently being drawn in preparation for the upcoming Netflix live-action series“.

The series was first announced in May 2019 and in October 2020 it was in early pre-production in Prague with a view to starting in 2021. However, casting had not taken place and the scripts were still being written. It was stated at the time that “the series as currently envisioned won’t move forward but the streamer hopes to revisit The Magic Order as a TV series in the future”. So it looks like they were true to their word and the project is back on.

James Wan (“Aquaman”) and Lindsey Beer (“Chaos Walking”, “Sierra Burgess is a Loser”) were going to be executive producing the show but it is unknown if they are still involved. The story follows five magicians and their families as they try to protect the world while they are being killed off one-by-one. Wan was set to direct the first episode with Beer serving as write/showrunner for the series.

Another MillarWorld project is due to arrive on Netflix with the “Jupiter’s Legacy” series arriving on May 7th.
