Way back in 2018 a film called “Monster” had its global premier at the Sundance Film Festival but it never got any official release. Netflix have since bought the rights and it will be released globally on May 7th. “Monster” is based on the 1999 novel by Walter Dean Myers and follows a seventeen year old boy whose life gets turned upside down after being implicated in a robbery that resulted in murder. But how can he fight for his innocence when society has already judged him?
The film stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright, Jharrel Jerome, Jennifer Ehle, Rakim Mayers, Nasir ‘Nas’ Jones, Tim Blake Nelson, and John David Washington and is directed by Anthony Mandler in his feature debut.
Steve Harmon is a seventeen-year-old honor student whose world comes crashing down around him when he is charged with felony murder. The film follows his dramatic journey from a smart, likable film student from Harlem attending an elite high school through a complex legal battle that could leave him spending the rest of his life in prison.
