NBA Drama “High Flying Bird” Swoops Onto Netflix

Netflix has bought the rights to Steven Soderbergh’s sports-themed film “High Flying Bird”,the director’s first collaboration with the streaming giant. The drama is set during a pro-basketball lockout and follows a sports agent who pitches a controversial business proposition to a rookie client. The film reunites Soderbergh with “The Knick” star Andre Holland, who also reunites on the movie with Oscar-winning “Moonlight” writer Tarell Alvin McCraney.

The film stars André Holland, Zazie Beetz, Melvin Gregg, Sonja Sohn, Zachary Quinto, Kyle MacLachlan, Bill Duke and Netflix is planning a 2019 global release.
