Netflix have announced the acquisition of indie comic book publisher Millarworld. Millarworld, founded by comic book writer Mark Millar, is home to titles such as “Kick-Ass”, “Kingsman” and “Old Man Logan”. The author’s work has also been used heavily in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Together, Netflix and Millar will bring Millarworld’s portfolio of critically and fan-acclaimed character franchises to life through films, series and kids’ shows available exclusively to Netflix members globally. Millarworld will also continue to create and publish new stories and character franchises under the Netflix label.
The acquisition, the first ever by Netflix, is a natural progression in the company’s effort to work directly with prolific and skilled creators and to acquire intellectual property and ownership of stories featuring compelling characters and timeless, interwoven fictional worlds.

This could be very interesting with regards to new Original content.
Omg a kick ass series would be awesome 😀
Millar may have written Old Man Logan, but I doubt it’s either his property or part if the Millar world.
Logan is definitely owned by Marvel. Actually, I would expect the rights to Kick-Ass and Kingsman might remain with the current rights holders, so no clue what this deal actually entails.
I think since they’re on marvels icon imprint they’re still creator owned, same Matt fractions Casanova series (which migrated from image to icon then back to image)
Apologies – I mixed up ‘home of’ and ‘creator of’ for “Old Man Logan”
It’s specific that Kick Ass and Kingsman are excluded.
